Christmas Meal Appeal 2019

Christmas Meal Appeal 2020

Christmas Meal Appeal

Just 50p can provide a nutritious meal

This year has been extremely tough for everyone, with many of us confined to our homes, unable to see our loved ones, and living with reduced incomes. In the UK, however, many people have been fortunate to receive government support  during this time of unprecedented global crisis. For our partner projects in Ghana, Kenya and Zanzibar – and the children who attend them – no such support has been available, creating economic uncertainty and high levels of food insecurity.

Earlier this year, thanks to your incredible generosity, our Fund a Food Parcel campaign raised more than £10,000, enabling us to provide food security to the children we support when they most needed it. We are so grateful to everyone who donated – but there is so much more to be done. The impact of the Coronavirus pandemic is still being felt all over the world, including at our partner projects.

Since 2014, our Christmas fundraising campaigns have raised over £17,000, enabling us to provide nutritious meals and festive celebrations to the children at our partner projects. This Christmas, you can help us give every child at our partner projects the chance to celebrate with a special festive meal and Christmas party.

It costs just 50p to provide one meal, so any amount you are able to donate really will make a difference.

What your support means

“Your donations will mean the children we support can enjoy nutritious meals with their families.” – Fred Egesa, Kenya In-country Co-ordinator

“Our project leaders can give the children at their schools a special celebration to enjoy.” – Samson Zuberi, Zanzibar In-country Co-ordinator

“We can give the children and families at our partner projects a well-deserved treat after a tough year.” – Siva Vordzorgbe, Ghana In-country Co-ordinator

How You Can Help

We believe Christmas should be a time of joy and celebration for every child, regardless of circumstances.

It costs just 50p to provide one child at our partner projects with a nutritious meal at Christmas time, so any amount you can donate really will make a difference.  You can also opt to turn your donation into a gift for a loved one by sending a personalised e-card which explains the incredible impact your donation will have*.

*If you make your donation before 11:59pm on Sunday 13th December, your chosen recipient will receive their e-card on Christmas Day. For donations made after this time, the e-card will be delivered in the first week of January 2021.

Gift Aid Declaration

Gift Aid It!Add 25% more to your donation at no cost to you. A Gift Aid declaration allows African Adventures Foundation to claim tax back on eligible donations. It means that for every £1 you donate to African Adventures Foundation we can claim back 25p, at no extra cost to you.

By ticking the "Yes" box, I agree I would like African Adventures Foundation to reclaim the tax on all qualifying donations I have made, as well as any future donations, until I notify them otherwise. I understand that if I pay less Income Tax and/or Capital Gains Tax than the amount of Gift Aid claimed on all my donations in that tax year I may be asked to pay any difference. I understand that African Adventures Foundation will reclaim 25p of tax on every £1 that I give. I understand that African Adventures Foundation will use the Gift Aid claimed on my donation for unrestricted purposes and permit them to do so.

What is Gift Aid?

Gift Aid does not cost you a penny more, but can add an additional 25p to every £1 you donate. When African Adventures Foundation receives a donation from a UK taxpayer, we're entitled to claim an amount of tax (calculated at the basic rate of income tax in that year) paid on that donation. Once you have given your permission for us to do this on your behalf, there is no need for you to do anything else.

All that is required is that you must be a taxpayer and that would have paid or will pay sufficient Income and/or Capital Gains Tax to cover all the Gift Aid claimed on all your donations in that tax year. Please note that it is your responsibility to pay any difference.

The amount of tax we claim will be 25% of the total value of your donations in that tax year. Furthermore, if you are a higher taxpayer, you are also entitled to claim the difference between the basic rate which we will claim and the amount of tax you have actually paid. For further details on how you can do this, please contact your tax office. If your tax situation changes and your gifts will no longer be eligible for the Gift Aid scheme please contact us and we will amend your record accordingly.
