COVID-19 has turned many lives upside down, and we realise that this is an uncertain and worrying time. People have lost their routines, some their steady income, and all are confined to their homes away from friends and family. But it has got us thinking how lucky we are to have the systems and services that we do here in the UK, with a government which is doing everything possible to protect jobs, income and well being. Many other countries are not so lucky.
Our lives have been changed, but we still have access to food, a roof over our heads, and the ability to connect with those we love. We have much to be thankful for, and we must think of those who need our support now more than ever. A large part of our work involves food provision for the children in the schools we support. With all Kenyan schools now shut, many children are missing out on the meals provided for them as part of the school day. This puts even more pressure on their parents who are already struggling to feed their families each day.
We are appealing to anyone fortunate enough to have financial security to help us ensure the children we support in Kenya have access to the basic human right of food. By funding a food parcel for a family in Kenya, you can help us spare further victims of this horrible disease.
